Choosing a medium-sized, full-time production company will provide you with the best bang for your buck. This is not to say that large corporations intentionally set their prices to be out of reach for small businesses; in fact, some may be eager to work with you.
It’s just that a large production house isn’t going to be as eager to earn your business for a $2000 project when they’re used to receiving calls for $20,000 jobs on average. You are not required to directly question each company about the size of their business. Examine their website for examples of their clients… If they appear to prefer Fortune 500 companies, TV stations, and feature films, you can assume they are a large production company. Alternatively, if you see a 30,000 square foot facility with immaculate furnishings, you can deduce that the price they give you will be substantial.
